Amsterdam's best known transport

In Amsterdam there are about 700,000 bicycles! It is famous for having a great bicycle culture and for being one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world. Many streets, including the main ones, have bike paths and people of all ages, at all times move around Amsterdam using their bicycles. Public transport in Amsterdam consists of bus and tram lines, and there are also several ferries for pedestrians and cyclists. Many people preferto use bicycles rather than cars, since a lot of streets are closed to cars or are one-way. To connect with the Dutch national network of freeways there’s a road called A10 Ringroad that surrounds the city. Going to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is easy – there’s a train from Amsterdam Central Station that takes you there in less than 20 minutes. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is the biggest airport in the Netherlands, the fourth largest in Europe and the third busiest airport in the whole world!
