The Royal Palace in Amsterdam, Netherlands is located in the west side of the popular Dam Square and it is one of three palaces in the Netherlands which is at the disposal of Queen Beatrix by Act of Parliament. The majestic Royal Palace is used by the Queen for official functions – such as state visits -, special occasions - as the New Year reception – and awards ceremonies – like Prince Claus prizes. This beautiful Amsterdam Palace is an example of sophistication and magnificence. It was built using yellowish sandstone from Germany and the interior of the Palace abounds in elegant marble. It was built by Jacob van Campen (1596 – 1657, Dutch artist and architect) who found inspiration in the public buildings of Rome. On top of the Royal Palace in Amsterdam there is large domed cupola with a weather vane in the form of a ship, which is a symbol of Amsterdam. The central hall of the Palace there’s an impressive room that shows two amazing maps of the world on its lovely marble floor.
